Phil Oswald retired in 2018, closing a successful 30-year career in educational fundraising and management with an extensive record of major gifts and campaign leadership.
He served more than a decade in his final role as Vice President for College Advancement at St. Norbert College, near Green Bay, Wisconsin. During that time, he restructured the college's advancement team of more than 25 staff and led a seven-year campaign that exceeded its $90 million goal a year early. Also during his tenure, St. Norbert’s endowment more than doubled, from $67 million in 2008 to $145 million in 2018. The college also received the largest gift in its history in 2017, a $30 million unrestricted endowment.
Earlier in his career, he worked for top public research universities. His roles included Associate Vice President for Development at the University of Texas at Austin and Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Missouri. He also served at the University of Minnesota for more than 10 years in two Director of Development roles supporting veterinary medicine and engineering, science and mathematics.
Phil earned a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.S. from the University of Oregon. After retiring, he relocated to the scenic shores of Lake Superior in Grand Marais, Minnesota.
